The problem is with the horizontally reflected rays when they reflect off of horizontal surfaces, such as the street, snow covered ground, water surface or a car hood; a glare is produced. In order to eliminate the glare polarized lenses have a laminated chemical coating on the surface of the lens, which acts as a polarizing filter. The filter blocks the reflective light and only the light that is not aligned with the filter can pass through.
